Recovery after angiography: care and warning signs
The first hours
You usually rest for a few hours afterwards so the catheter entry site can heal. The leg or arm is kept straight.
Some tiredness is normal. Brief dizziness can also occur.
Caring for the entry site
Keep the site dry for 24–48 hours. Lifting heavy objects and strenuous activity are limited for a few days.
Contact a doctor immediately if the site swells, bleeds or becomes very painful.
Warning signs
Chest pain, breathlessness, numbness of an arm or leg, or fever need medical attention. Do not delay if these appear.
This is general patient education, not individual medical advice. Do not stop or change medicines yourself. Fast or make other preparations only when instructed by your care team.
