High blood pressure and heart health
Why it matters
High blood pressure puts a constant load on the heart and vessels. Uncontrolled pressure raises the risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney disease.
Measuring and targets
Measure your blood pressure at home regularly and keep a record. Target values depend on age and other conditions — set them with your doctor.
How to control it
Less salt, physical activity, weight control and taking medicines regularly keep blood pressure in check. Do not stop medicines on your own.
This is general patient education, not individual medical advice. Do not stop or change medicines yourself. Fast or make other preparations only when instructed by your care team.
