Heart attack warning signs
Main signs
Crushing pain or pressure in the centre of the chest, spreading to the arms, shoulder, neck or jaw, are the key warning signs. Cold sweat, nausea and breathlessness may accompany them.
Atypical signs
In women, older people and those with diabetes symptoms can differ — weakness, fatigue, or only breathlessness. Take these seriously too.
What to do
If such symptoms last more than 15 minutes or do not settle with rest, call emergency services immediately. Do not wait — prompt treatment protects the heart muscle.
