Blood tests: what you should know
Main tests
Complete blood count, glucose, lipid panel, kidney and liver markers and thyroid hormones are among the most common. The doctor selects tests by purpose.
Preparation
Some tests (glucose, lipid panel) are taken fasting — usually 8–12 hours after eating. Tell the doctor about your medicines beforehand.
Understanding results
Do not interpret results alone — values depend on age, sex and health status. Your doctor reads the results as a whole picture.
This is general patient education, not individual medical advice. Do not stop or change medicines yourself. Fast or make other preparations only when instructed by your care team.
